The safety zone is a 6000 foot zone around the airport.

Here is another airport that is concerned with schools and residential housing as well. Within 6000 feet of the runway they prohibit residential houses and schools. Section 5 defines there standards and allowable uses. The City of Paso Robles has two runway and a heavier runway restrictions. In the List of Figures - Figure 3 is the zone maps. If you look at the scale of this project, their zones are greater than 6000 feet.
